Tai Chi Chuan is a profound health/exercise/discipline, and is a restorative, and a health promoting system for the body and the mind. In the past Tai Chi was taught as a Martial Art and now more commonly as a practice of "moving meditation". Tai Chi is the art of conscious movement through total relaxation without becoming "lax". When the body is relaxed all of the systems work at peak efficiency. The practitioner coordinates this relaxed body with the breath and the mind. In this way we learn what I call a 'Martial Health System'.
Research confirms the health aspects of Tai Chi and that making it a part of one's regular exercise routine will lower one's heart rate, and bring blood pressure into normal ranges (In a study published in the international medical journal Cell Transplantation, a research team found that Tai Chi can increase the number of stem cells in practitioners. ... The research is titled "Tai Chi Intervention Increases Progenitor CD34+Cells in Young Adults.")
Anecdotally people report greater feelings of well-being, less instances of seasonal illnesses, and lowered stress levels. Many hospitals offer Tai Chi for people who have recently undergone chemotherapy as a gentle means of recovery from side effects of the treatment.

For the potential practitioner to know the present and the future of Tai Chi we have briefly noted some of the current research so that you may understand the power of the practice.
For business people, many companies understand, that providing exercise opportunities, and incentives to exercise, lowers health costs and promotes positives in the workplace. Companies that employ staff retreats may be interested in having Tai Chi or Chi Kung as a part of the program. A morning session of Chi Kung or basic Tai Chi to set up for a day of staff retreat will find greater relaxation and creativity in your processing. We are here to offer you services in that capacity.
From 2002- 2019 I conducted classes outdoors in Vallejo, California, and examples of those classes can be seen on my youtube channel (sufiworks). From 2006-2010 I taught at Synergy Medical Fitness Center in Napa, California. In 2019 I moved to Portland and now teach privately, in person, for fully vaccinated people. I have also developed methods for on-line teaching and have found that with twice weekly sessions people learn just as quickly and easily as in-person lessons. At this time twice weekly lessons at your individual time are available for Fifty Dollars monthly, and at the conclusion of learning the form, you join with other practitioners who meet twice weekly to practice on-line with me at no cost for continued coaching and practice.
I began my Chinese martial Arts training in White Crane Gung Fu (1969) at the Geary Blvd (San Francisco) studio of Master George (Chin) Long. 1972 was the beginning of ten years studying with Master Robert Cook focusing on Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing Yi and Pa Qua. When Master Cook left the area to travel, the following years were times of continual practice and supplementary study with various Teachers including the Qigong practice of The Six Healing Sounds and The Flying Crane Qigong form

Beginners through advanced are invited to study. We practice the “108 step” Yang Form as well as Tai Chi Swords and Tai Chi Cane.
